Moving bulk material on a mine site—or from the production point to the loading or processing area—is most efficient and reliable using conveyor systems. Dodge shaft mount gear reducers provide a durable and reliable way to increase the load capacity of most belt conveyor systems used in surface operations, in-pit crushers and conventional mining applications.
The Dodge Torque-Arm II Shaft Mount Reducer is a helical shaft-mounted speed reducer offered in 12 case sizes. Extended gear centres, wider gear faces and specialized tooth geometry are behind increased ratings—HP ratings through 400 and torque ratings through 500,000 lb. in.
The product is a step up power-wise from the earlier Torque-ArmT, but offers the same versatility and an infinite amount of adjustable speed variation as well as suitability in a vast array of applications.
In higher HP situations where longevity and operational efficiency are paramount, helical reducers are the best choice. Joe Groenendyk is the branch manager for BC Bearing in Nanaimo, B.C., supplier for Motion Canada; he says the product is the industry leader.
“Dodge builds a very robust, sturdy unit that lasts a long time,” said Groenendyk.
According to Dodge, heavy-duty tapered roller bearings provide 25,000 hours average life and 5,000 L-10 minimum hours life in the heaviest load conditions.
