RPMGlobal has strengthened its consulting expertise after appointing Avakash (Akoo) Patel, P.Eng., to President of the Americas region for its Consulting & Advisory business.
A licensed Professional Engineer, Mr Patel brings more than 25 years’ experience in consulting, mining and mineral processing operations to RPMGlobal. The past eight years of his career have encompassed senior and executive leadership positions.
Prior to joining RPMGlobal, Mr. Patel was the Vice President of Metallurgy and Processing for a mining and metals consulting firm.
Philippe Baudry, RPMGlobal’s Executive General Manager—Advisory Services, said Mr Patel’s appointment coincided with a period of heightened demand for the company’s Consulting and Advisory expertise in the region.
“Our reputation for delivering high quality mining advisory services remains second to none and this is being reflected in strong customer demand, particularly in the minerals and metals space,” he said.
“Akoo’s appointment reflects a critical part of our strategy to grow our market share across the Americas. Akoo’s depth of consulting and operations experience and track record for success speaks for itself and I look forward to working closely with him.”
Mr Patel said he was thrilled to be able to lead RPMGlobal’s Consulting and Advisory teams into its next phase of growth across the Americas.
“I’m very excited about the industry opportunities available in North, Central, and South America,” he said.
“It’s clear that RPMGlobal’s consulting and advisory offerings across financial services, mining studies and operational improvements have translated into strong organic growth for the consulting arm and I look forward to accelerating our strategy across these areas.
“The need for concise, practical, and high quality analysis and reporting continues to grow in the industry, and this presents a unique opportunity given RPMGlobal’s offerings and bench strength. With a presence across Canada, USA, Chile, Brazil and our new office in Colombia, RPMGlobal is perfectly placed to support our clients across all major mining districts in the Americas.”
With 2019 marking the company’s 50-year anniversary milestone, RPMGlobal recently completed a strategic business review of how its customers are using its services around the world, while also assessing where additional investments could help clients into the next decade.
The review highlighted a number of opportunities available in the Americas region, prompting the need to build upon its established presence in the Americas.
“To join an organisation with 50 years of history and such a strong presence in the Advisory Consulting market is a fantastic opportunity,” Mr Patel added.
Mr Patel’s appointment complements a number of recent strategic hires across the region. These include the appointment of Sandeep Sandhu as General Manager, North America to RPMGlobal’s technology division, while Jackie Wheeler has taken on the role of Manager—Canada of the Advisory arm based in Toronto.
In line with further anticipated growth in the Americas, RPMGlobal plans to continue to add further expertise in the key mining regions.
Mr Baudry said the company strove to provide depth and breadth in its service and technology offerings that not only delivered tangible productivity improvements but also a step change in the value chain.
“Our 50 years of rich history, combined with ongoing investments in operational and technology improvements, enables RPMGlobal to provide a service offering to our clients that is unmatched within the mining industry,” he said.
“Akoo is a valuable addition to our well respected General Management team, thereby further positioning RPMGlobal for success in the next phase of its expansion across key mining districts,” he concluded.
