COREM announces the appointment of its new President and CEO

QUEBEC, Jan. 16, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Mr. Paul Cousin, Chair of the Board of Directors, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Francis Fournier as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Fournier took office on January 15, succeeding Ms. Claire Lavallée, who held this position since January 2013.

Originally from the Quebec City area, Mr. Fournier holds a Bachelor's degree in Wood Engineering from Université Laval. He has more than twenty years of experience in the innovation sector, mainly with FPInnovations, a national forest research and development centre. In his most recent position, he was Associate Vice-President, Strategic Partnerships. Working closely with senior management, he has contributed to the development of alliances with both private and governmental bodies.

These different experiences have allowed him to gain extensive knowledge in the field of R&D both operationally and strategically, and made him a key partner in the realization of complex innovative projects, leading efficient and mobilizing growth generating changes. In addition, since 2012, he is an Administrator for several companies dedicated to innovation.

"We are convinced that Francis will enable COREM to further progress in its development, in close collaboration with our management team. His experience and strengths align well with our future plans and strategies and will also serve him well in his new role," said Mr. Cousin.

COREM is an industrial research centre specializing in mineral processing, combining the largest concentration of resources dedicated to research and development in this field in Canada. Located in Québec City, it has equipment and facilities that include a pilot plant as well as analytical, mineralurgy and mineralogy laboratories.

COREM carries out on an annual basis an important pre-competitive research program for the benefit of its members, thus contributing to the improvement of their operations' competitiveness. The centre offers its expertise and services to the whole mineral industry on a contractual basis and contributes to the development of new mining projects. COREM represents an asset with a high added value for the mining sector.
